GOVERNOR’S
WELCOME
Greetings!
On behalf of the state of Wisconsin, I am pleased to welcome you back to Whistling Straits, host of the 92nd PGA Championship.
Here in Wisconsin, we are passionate about golf. Wisconsin has more than 500 courses available for public and private play, including championship, nine-hole, executive and par- 3 courses. No matter what kind of course you prefer and no matter what your skill level, Wisconsin has something for you.
We are proud to showcase our great courses to the world, and we are thrilled to host this great tournament again this year. The Straits course is ranked as one of the best in the world with its picturesque two-mile shoreline on Lake Michigan and rugged terrain. I can’t imagine a better location than Whistling Straits to test these players.
We’ve also made a special effort to bring kids and their families into the game. Through our Golf Wisconsin initiative, thousands of Wisconsin’s young people have golfed for free or attended one of our family golf clinics. I would also like to thank the PGA Championship for offering free admission to junior golfers when in the company of a ticketed adult. This is a wonderful promotion, and I can’t think of a better place to offer it.
The state of Wisconsin and The PGA of America are both focused on having a great Championship Week. Our common goal is showcasing what a great state Wisconsin is, not only for golf, but also as a place to raise your family and to do business. We’re proud of this unique partnership and shared mission, and we look forward to having a successful event.
Enjoy your stay in Wisconsin and come back soon.
Sincerely, Jim Doyle Governor
